Besides the regular classes in Dance, Music & Arts we do have the following flagship programmes

Flagship Programs

Annual Program:

A Musical program, Seminar and Art-Exhibition organized in October/November of every year where all the students and teachers of the Institution participate. Guardians and well-wishers of the Institution also involve themselves with the program.

Observations :

  • Rabindra Jayanti every year in the 25th Baishak
  • Independence Day: A quiz Competition and cultural programme based on Patriotic songs, poems, dances etc at the school premises every year.

Scholarships :

Two scholarships each of Rs. 200/- pm for one year, given every year to increase interest and healthy competition in Music and Fine Arts among the students.

  • Lakshyamoni Nath Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is given to the highest scorer in the Annual Examination among all the students and subjects.
  • The Samayik Prasanga Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is given to the highest scorer in the Annual Examination among all the students of Ravindra Nritya.
  • Sriram Bhar Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is given to the highest scorer in the Annual Examination among all the students of Vocal Classical.

Social Campaigns:

  • Awareness about AIDS – “Ek Khan Dami Katha” on Sylheti dialogue broadcasted from DDK, Silchar
  • Ita Ar Matie Lav Nai (against child labour) etc

What we do

  • Provide quality training and education in the field of Indian classical music and dance, with a focus on Kathak. 
  • Promote India’s cultural heritage, particularly through preserving and propagating classical music and dance forms. 
  • Provide opportunities for skill-building and personal development through engagement with Indian art forms. 
  • Participate in cultural programs and events, both locally and globally, to showcase and promote Indian classical music and dance. 
  • Promote the cultural heritage of North East India, particularly the Barak Valley, through engagement with local artists and traditions. 
  • Conduct research and development in the field of Indian classical music, dance, and allied sectors to advance knowledge and understanding.
  • Recognize and promote talented artists and performers, particularly those who are underprivileged or marginalized, to support their development and success.
  • Host, arrange, conduct, organize, and facilitate performances, cultural programmes, seminars, conventions, conferences, lectures, workshops, tours, excursions, exchanges and educational programmes from time to time.
  • Develop, assist, promote, support, channelise, and undertake charitable, social and responsible humanitarian works, essentially for philanthropic purposes.

Activities

Summer Vacation Workshop

Department of Cultural Affairs, Assam

10 days, intensive workshops were held to teach young students Recitation and Dhamail folk dance. Renowned artists and experts conducted the sessions, imparting their knowledge and skills to students from class VI to the graduation level.

The workshop is organized by District Administration Cachar in collaboration with Beenachchhandam Sangeet Mahavidyalaya under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt of Assam.

The Summer Vacation Workshop on Folk Art & Culture had a profound impact on the participants and the community as a whole. The program succeeded in achieving its objectives:

  • Cultural Preservation: The workshop played a crucial role in preserving and promoting the traditional folk art and culture of Assam. By imparting knowledge and skills to the participants, it ensured the continuity of these art forms for generations to come.
  • Youth Engagement: The initiative engaged the youth of Assam in a constructive and culturally enriching manner. It kindled a sense of pride in their roots, fostering a stronger connection with their heritage.
  • Intercommunity Harmony: Bringing together participants from various schools across the Silchar LAC and cultural backgrounds fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie among them. The workshop acted as a platform for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Empower through Kathak

Kathak Workshop for underprivileged children inculcating life skills through dance, empowering girls at shelter homes and providing opportunities for individuals from less fortunate backgrounds to learn and improve their dance skills. This initiative also aimed to inculcate life skills and boost the confidence of the girls at the Child Care Institute through dance.

Swachhata Hi Seva

Beenachchhandam Sangeet Mahavidyalaya takes centre stage for a cleaner India! Street play on ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ was performed and active participation in the cleanliness drive.

Independence Day Celebration at ONGC, Silchar, Assam

Celebrated the 77th Independence Day with our culture at ONGC, CFB as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The cultural heritage of Northeast India was upheld with captivating performances, showcasing the rich diversity of our region.

Rabindra Jayanti

The event was filled with enchanting performances, including soulful Rabindra Sangeet, captivating Rabindra Nritya, mesmerizing recitations, and an exciting quiz competition. The participants showcase their talent and deep appreciation for Tagore’s literary and artistic contributions.

Assam CM Visit

The students of Beenachchhandam Sangeet Mahavidyalayahave upheld and performed “Dhamail”, the traditional folk dance of Barak Valley, in front of the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma and Cabinet Ministers at the program organized by MLA, Shri Dipayan Chakraborty.
